Flyball is a dog sport in which teams of dogs race against each other from a start/finish line, over a line of hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball to be caught when the dog presses the spring loaded pad, then back to the handler whilst carrying the ball.
Flyball started as a dog sport in the late 1960's and early 70's in Southern California USA. It made its debut at Crufts in 1990.
The sport of Flyball is suitable for any dog over 12 months of age regardless of breed shape or size. Dogs who love to chase, jump catch and retrieve and who just love to please their owners are well suited to Flyball.
Dogs before beginning to learn Flyball need to have good basic training, and have to be well socialized. Flyball can seem like a pack to a dog so pre-socialisation is therefore a must.
If you want to have a go at this fast fun sport then Field of Dreams can help. Our Instructors have all competed in Flyball at a high level, including Crufts.
The aim of Flyball is to teach your dog a new skill and to have fun. It can however become addictive, you have been warned
